Lenox Executive Search is seeking an experienced Post Doctoral Fellow to fill an Temp-to-Perm contractual role with a global pharmaceutical company in Cambridge, MA. Must have Molecular Biology and Cell Culture background. Prefer ASAP start but can be flexible on start date.
REQUIREMENTS for the Post Doctoral Fellow:
The Biological Process Development recently has Cell Line Development (CLD) group is responsible for producing cell lines that express clinical grade therapeutic proteins and viral vectors for Cell and Gene Therapies. In the field of Cell and Gene Therapy, many new ideas and discoveries have been emerging lately. The candidate will perform literature search about the newest trend and technology in Cell and Gene Therapy development, majorly focused on finding a way to make stable inducible host cells line to product viral vectors.
The candidate will be exposed to CLD procedures/ideas and learn the CLD platform and contribute to pipeline molecule production. Meanwhile, this candidate will come up with his/her own ideas of how to introduce toxic viral components to make host cells ready for viral packaging.
- Ph.D. degree in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, or related pharmaceutical science;
- Experience in cell culture and genetic engineering is required
- Experience in Cell Line Development (CLD) technologies including culture of mammalian cells, single-cell cloning, clonality assessment, and clone screening is highly desirable
- Experience in retroviral system or production is highly appreciated.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve critical and routine issues using appropriate information
- Ability to manage work load efficiently and in timely manner especially when projects are at a critical stage
- Proficiency in use of applicable lab equipment and operations; experience in main-taining written records of work in the form of laboratory notebooks (paper or electronic)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to report data, present findings to management
- Computer experience in common Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
- Evidence of leadership and teamwork skills
- Desire for a career in the pharmaceutical industry
RESPONSIBILITIES of the Post Doctoral Fellow:
- The candidate will learn CLD procedures and platforms and carry out projects to support CLD pipeline.
- The candidate will be guided to come up with his/her own ideas and experimental design to introduce toxic viral components to make host cells ready for viral packaging.
- The candidate will be expected to have extensive experience with cell culture and molecular biology.
- Employs available methods and test new methods for cell line development and independent-ly generates CHO cell lines of high productivity and quality
- Employs available methods and test new methods to develop inducible system and stable expression of viral vectors
- Works with departmental and/or cross functional peers to execute on assignments under limited supervision.
- Interprets data independently, identifies technical issues and implements solutions under limited supervision
- Contributes to the design of new applications and operations in consultation with supervisor; evaluates new techonolgies and participates in new platform development
- Documents experimental procedures with electornic notebook and authors CLD reports for regulatory filings
- Presents study results in internal meetings, participates in project meetings/decisions
- The candidate will need strong skills with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint to organize and document experimental procedures with electornic notebook
